Rogue Elephant - Straight From The Mongrel's Mouth | by Paul David Jones on 21/07/2010 | Legacy Madness on a Budget
Paul once again delves into the mind boggling world of legacy deck construction, this time looking into building blue/green madness on a budget.
Madness? This is Legacy! Russ Davies 26/07/2010 | Nice article, bit of nostalgia for me, as I used to play UG madness back when I first started playing.
Funny how similar the decklist is - but I think the Looter Il Kor would be amazing in any non-aggro matchup, allowing you to cycle through the deck, deploy cheap threats... it's essentially an unblockable ophidian. There isn't just One Parker in Legacy (Manchester) Paul David Jones 01/07/2010 | Merfolk seem to be doing pretty well i'd say, maybe sometime another deck can win...someday... | Julian D Parker 02/07/2010 | RICK PARKER has just done the *double* by winning the CRYPT ThNM (Legacy) to seal the back-to-back wins in the same week. Ae post for the recent rules changes to the EDH format, (keeping the updates to the usual date of the 20th June), unlike the delay in the EXT format change, (so massive change in that particular format with an overhaul of the MODO online system to cope with the changes)

Legacy
Banned = Mystical Tutor.
Unbanned = Grim Monolith, Illusionary Mask.
Extended
Banned = Hypergenesis, Sword of the Meek.
( plus MAJOR CHANGES to the Extended format, click [HERE] to read more!)
Julian D Parker 18/06/2010 | ... so much for 'over extended'. What a complete 180n degree turnaboout to what players wanted. I think 1. Extended will become very popular as a serious replcement to Standard for most Grand Prix and weekend events
2. Standard will become the dominant FNM format, but the higher level GPTs and PTQs will likely not be Standard
3. The dominant Eternal Format will now be Legacy. Extended is no longer in conflict with this format. The DCi will now more closely scrutinise the banned list and ensure the format doesnt continue out-of-hand
-judge-Julez- [judge.julez@rocketmail.com] | Robert C Wagner 18/06/2010 | Sounds to me like they're making room for Overextended to not be in conflict with any played formats tbh | Dave Robertshaw 19/06/2010 | I think Rob is correct, I can see Legacy being a real niche format, and SuperOverUber Extended will be the issue. | | View 3 comments. | Comment on this article. The list of qualifiers for the 2010 GB Nationals has now been published. Read the full article for more details and a complete list! Robert C Wagner 14/06/2010 | Matteo O-J is on here twice, I am missing and Weng Sheng Wong is Malaysian so there are 192 currently-qualified players. | Russ Davies 14/06/2010 | Doh! That's definitely Matteos fault for having such a complicated name.
There is a "Wagner, Rob" on the list - I suspect that's probably you? And although Weng Sheng Wong is Malaysian, he could still be technically qualified if he was in the country (or registered as being in it) at the right time. The weirdities of Wizards Nats Quals systems are unrivalled! | Robert C Wagner 15/06/2010 | Wagner, Rob is another guy who lives in Brighton - I'm Wagner, Rob C in this system. I know Weng's brother and he's definitely going back to Malaysia, he's just at university here. Such a weird system I agree. I found out I am currently considered to be living in America because they lost my address between Dec and Feb. I was in America for a week but had no plans on immigrating. | Russ Davies 18/06/2010 | That's a bit crap - are you going to be qualified for Nats then? I would hope they count you as special circumstances, based on it being the (terrible, terrible) Wizards/DCI online system that caused the issue? | | View 4 comments. | Comment on this article. Kat Donohue 26/05/2010 | -cough- exuse me Jules. "will have THEIR prize support doubled" i may be the only female but still. i'd like some PC :P
moan aside. im looking forward to this NQ. re-vamped by vamps (sorry for the pun) hopefully serving me better than they did at Altrincham. and the pirze support! WOW! | Michael Maxwell 27/05/2010 | i know, the prize support for this is ridiculous, i'm almost tempted to play to try and get that £100! | Robert C Wagner 01/06/2010 | 4 Leeds players in the top 8, and Andy Devine will get in on Rating - good day for us! | Richard Smith 05/06/2010 | Wow, those prizes are unreal. Shame I was already qualified really, getting (I think) 5 boosters (of which only one was current...) for my troubles! :S | | View 4 comments. | Comment on this article. I've recently had a deeper look into a neglected part of magic: The scoring system.
I made a table top life keeper as part of a school project, and I'll tell you the whole story....
Robert C Wagner 17/05/2010 | This is awesome, congratulations! p.s. hope you get an A* | Keith Brown 17/05/2010 | I _should_ get a high project mark, if anything's going to pull my grade down, it'll be the written exam | Julian D Parker 17/05/2010 | this is such an awesome article; I don't think I've read anything like it on any other website LOL | Keith Brown 25/05/2010 | Did anybody understand my binary explanation? that is if you didn't already understand binary | Richard Smith 26/05/2010 | I imagine that a large proportion of readers of MTG articles will already understand binary (although amusingly enough, ask them to count in base 3, and most will struggle), but it seemed a pretty good, clear explanation to me. Nice looking product. Not sure it'll take off, given its relative bulk, but it certainly looks great! | Keith Brown 01/06/2010 | I couldn't sell it anyway, the WUBRG symbols are copyrighted and i don't fancy having a wizards legal team on my case.
and am i right in saying that base 3 is: 1,2,10,11,12,20,21,22,100,101,etc for 1-10 | | View 6 comments. | Comment on this article. Read this article in full. | CRYPT Manchester NQ Report | by Julian D Parker on 16/05/2010 | -CHESHIRE NATIONAL QUALIFIER-

Having been subjected to the monotony of {Eldrazi Sealed} I've almost lost the will to live... Fortunately I stayed positive long enough to try drafting the set, and believe it's likely to be a lively and interesting draft format.
Rather than moan about sealed (because the only people who have to endure that sad experience again are those going to the occasional GP ) this article will discuss my impressions of the set,
and talk about the commons available to drafters. Richard Smith 26/05/2010 | Very much agreed on Eel Umbra. It's regularly the equivalent of a 2 or 3 for 1.
Disagreed on Regress; I think it's excellent in this format, since it not only hits the things you mentioned but also makes levellers look stupid. At that point, it's strong against most of the major archetypes going around, plus the fact that it's strong in the UR Kiln Fiend archetype in its own right means it's very good.
Distortion Strike's fine, but not amazing. As you say, it's best in UG or UR, but UG is generally a pretty miserable colour combination to be in.
Ikaral Outrider's not great, but he's still a perfectly reasonable man, as a 2/6 vigilant butt is actually quite useful most of the time. Combine him with Time of Heroes and he's a pretty ludicrous beater that's hard to deal with with anything short of Corpsehatch.
I really, really want to draft a white deck sometime soon built around Knights and Hyena Umbras, but I've generally found that unless it's paired with blue, white's been pretty weak, as its guys require too much mana invested into them, only to die to the first removal spell that comes along. Hyena Umbra's utterly ridiculous though, and I still don't understand why I keep seeing them going late (aside from the fact that white's quite underdrafted generally), because it's almost impossible to block a knight of cliffhaven who gets one dropped on him... | | View 1 comments. | Comment on this article.
